That’s the message from this week’s annual forecast conference of the Calgary Real Estate Board.

Thursday, January 19, 2012 - Calgary MLS sales and prices to rise in 2012: CREB
Increasing consumer confidence in the second half of the year will boost the city's resale housing market pushing MLS sales and average prices higher for the year, says the Calgary Real Estate Board.
At its annual forecast breakfast on Wednesday, CREB predicted single-family home sales would jump 12.2 per cent in 2012 to 14,800 transactions while the average sale price would increase by 2.1 per cent to $476,000.

CALGARY — Bob Jablonski will take over as president of the Calgary Real Estate Board on Wednesday when the organization officially releases its forecast for the 2012 housing market.

CALGARY — Sales in the luxury home market have ballooned in Calgary this year.
According to the Calgary Real Estate Board, sales for upper-end residential properties are way above the pace set a year ago. As of Tuesday, there were 291 single-family MLS sales over $1 million this year compared with 234 for the same period in 2010. Calgary's house prices could firm up in the near future after suffering a 17 per cent correction during the recession.
